The Logis de la Chabotterie (10 min)

As the scene of the arrest of General Charette in 1796, la Chabotterie is also an important historic site which marks the end of the Wars of the Vendée. A country house with activities throughout the year: 10 furnished rooms with sound effects and commentaries, a permanent visitor trail that is unlike anything else in the Vendée, an enclosed formal garden, and an exhibition between May and October on "the Vendée and its gardens".
In summer La Chabotterie hosts carriage rides, the Vendée Baroque Music Festival, and in July and August there are free guided tours in period costume for children aged 6 to 12.

The Puy du Fou (40 min)

Total spectacle all around! Be transported into a dream world by the majestic flight of soaring birds in the "Dance of the Phantom Birds". Thrill to the incredible chariot race in the "Gallo-Roman stadium". Tremble at the fearsome Viking raid on the "Fort of the Year 1000", and be moved by the exciting and fantastic "Battle of the Keep". "Le Bourg 1900" and its mechanical music! Festive atmosphere of a busy quarter in a small town of the late XIXth century (shops, workshops, market place, bistrot...), just like during the year of the Belle Epoque.

The Château de Barbe Bleue (34 min)

1337 - 1453, almost a hundred years of a conflict that was to see the curtain fall on the Middle Ages, a time when. Western France gave to history and to legend a personage who was a blend of the real and the unreal, Gilles de Rais. Marshal of France at the age of 25, companion-at-arms of Joan of Arc, Gilles de Rais'singular destiny was one which still today gives rise to a mix of curiosity and fear. The castle brings the legend to life in a 30 minute spectacle with the firing of machinery of war, horses and pyrotechnics.

Cycling tours

You will be able to explore all the hidden corners of the nature sites along the coast (dunes, woodlands and marshes), in the bocage country and the Poitevin Marshes. In due course the cycle-trails will mean you will be able to cycle for 750 km in the Vendée, with all the family and in complete safety.
